A new group of officers were elected to the MCA Board of Directors this year. Surprisingly, this year's Annual Business Meeting had a low attendance, but there were enough interested members to run for Board positions.
Elected to President was Dan McCourt, last year's Western VP and one of the most active MCA players. During the past year he was the main promoter of Junior chess in Montana.
Elected to Executive Vice-President was Bill McBroom, an MCA veteran of many years and the director of the University Chess Club at the U of M campus in Missoula.
Elected to Western Regional Vice-President was Greg Nowak, State Champion of Montana for a number of years. Greg has been one of the biggest promoters of chess in Montana during the past 10 years, and has contributed many creative ideas to help the association.
Re-elected to Eastern Regional Vice-President was Mel Drake of Helena, also a promoter of Junior chess in Montana.
Elected to Secretary-Treasurer was Jim Skovron of Great Falls, an active MCA player and a guy gutsy enough to take on one of the toughest roles in the MCA. Thank you, Jim!
Carrying on as Editor of the MCA newsletter is David Duke of Billings. Last year was David's first shot at this challenging task and he did a great job of putting together enough articles and games to keep the membership informed and entertained. We all really appreciate David's dedication to Montana chess and thank him for accepting the position for another year.
